No "Lou" City

Yesterday I wore my Loungo t-shirt in quiet protest to the many fans that felt that he and his massive salary would be exiled from Vancouver. And, of course, today he is off to much drier pastures in Florida. Although I'm pretty upset with the management of the Vancouver Canucks, I'm even more disappointed in the people here that believe that this should've happened long ago. He went from posting two shutouts in the Stanley Cup Final to being, "The worst". So quickly people forget the Canuck records in wins or shutouts, or the fact that his first year here he single handedly took the team to the playoffs. Working the fun side of the bar you hear a lot of the rhetoric from the fans and I have to agree with my out of town friends, a lot of them are idiots.

I lived in Toronto when Mats Sundin unceremoniously played out his contract. He was their captain and leader in almost every category. He took less money to be surrounded by better players, but the management made mistakes along the way. The biggest, asking this Maple Leaf icon to waive his contract and be traded to, "help the team in the future." The people wanted his head, they shit on him in the paper and on the radio. Eventually he played his last game. None of the other less-talented players waived their contracts and the team didn't make the playoffs... again. This amazing player, promoter of the city waved to the crowd and disappeared. What's worse is, they didn't even offer him another contract. He was just gone. It was terrible. It wasn't until Mats returned as a Canuck(so I was happy) did the people in and around the city start to realize that they had focused their disdain to the wrong person. Your coffee at Tim Hortons isn't shit because of the person working their, it's the management.

I've never really trusted Lawyers, sports agents, or people that sweat more than Rob Ford and especially when the GM of your team is all three. I have no problem with re-tooling or making changes to better the club, but I'm not sure this guy can do it. The team that brought our Canucks to the Finals in 2011 has a lot of finger prints on it, least of them being Mike Gillis.

So don't take you frustrations out on Luo, or Kesler, or the Sedins... maybe Burrows. The at the top of the food chain has made more Gaffes than Rob... whatever. He sucks. He bumbled the goalie controversy, the trade with NJ, etc. His head drops before Torts.

Before I leave this rant to watch the Canucks vs Coyotes, possibly wearing my Kesler Jersey for the last time, I make on more plea...

To the media, citizens and fans in Vancouver:

Look at the way you treat the Canucks players. You revel in the glow of the Lions. You marvel at the skill of the Whitecaps. And you scrutinize every word, move, gesture and glance the Canucks make, then rip them for being untruthful, or have attitudes. You expect hat-tricks, shutouts, and perfection on the power play, and still detail how they should be better. And earlier today the Team 1040 talked about whether Eddie Lack has the mental strength to be a number one goalie. Remember all the things you said about Luo, about Linden, about Bure... It's not your job to break the kid down until he cries. Your 50,000 boos to show your frustration,  only shows your inadequacy to be decent. Every other Canadian city watches us, wishing they could've had just five of our years that we had in the past decade.  Their envy quickly turns to anger when the see the way it appears we haven't appreciated any of it. If I have to hear the Doom and Gloom segment from Skeletor impersonator, Tony Gallagher, tell the downside of every player on this team on more time... Just look at the way you shoved a microphone, a newspaper article and who knows what else down these guys throats from the day they arrived, then tell my why they think this is a hard market to play in. It's not them, it's you. To sell papers(if they still do that), to make headlines, to sound cool,

"I like the Canucks, but I hate Canucks fans"

I hate anyone that says that fucking phrase for the built in irony that you are a fan!!

The only thing "LACKing" on this team is Management and mature Fans
